Looks like your car Mk4 2008 2.0lt Tdci should have a tow weight of 2000kg (based on looking at the towing weight of similar models on Autotrader). If your not happy to tow your 1700kg trailer with the Mondoe you'll have to be looking at big 4x4 or a large transit type van. (even small 4x4s like a Freelander can only tow 2000kg). Reply.
Considering the claims of economy from some members, it seems that the 2.2 tdci engines are more economical than figures suggest and the 1.6 tdci less so. The Mondeo is still a great car with the 1.6 tdci although this engine is now showing its age compared to the new 1.6 diesel that Renault have which develops 128 bhp and 320 Nm of torque.
